Royals Elect to Move on from Three Players

In addition to his role as partner with Right at Home, Kansas City's fastest-growing home care agency, Scott Sjoberg is the owner and operator of KCMetroGolf.com. Beyond his varied professional pursuits, Scott Sjoberg is a passionate fan of Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Kansas City Royals.

The Royals missed the playoffs for a third consecutive season in 2018 and finished with its fewest wins (58) since 2005. The off-season has only just begun, but the team has already cut ties with players Brandon Maurer, Paulo Orlando, and Ramon Torres. A 28-year-old right-handed pitcher acquired from the San Diego Padres, Maurer opted to become a free agent instead of accepting an assignment to the team's Triple-A affiliate, while both Orlando and Torres will be minor league free agents after being sent outright to Triple-A.

Maurer struggled upon being acquired in 2017 and didn't fare much better in 2018. Through 51 and one-third combined innings with the Royals, he managed 52 strikeouts, but also allowed 11 home runs and posted a disappointing 7.89 earned run average. Orlando was a member of the Royals' 2015 World Series squad and is one of only five players from Brazil ever to make it to MLB. Through four seasons with the team, he registered a .263 batting average to go along with 14 home runs and 81 runs batted in. Torres, meanwhile, is an infielder who only had 102 at-bats with Kansas City over the past two seasons.

Revisiting the Kansas City Royals' 2018 Season

A former account executive and sales manager with multiple Kansas-based TV stations, Scott Sjoberg serves as the owner and operator of Right at Home, which is among the fastest-growing home-care agencies in Kansas City. When he isn't working to grow the company, Scott Sjoberg enjoys watching his favorite Major League Baseball (MLB) team, the Kansas City Royals

Not only did the Royals fail to make the playoffs for the third consecutive season, the team also won its fewest games (58) since the 2005 season, when it posted a win-loss record of 56-106. Moreover, these 58 wins were the third-fewest posted by the team in a single season since it joined the MLB in 1969. The franchise experienced record attendance figures of more than 2.71 million through 81 home games during its World Series-winning campaign in 2015, but that figure has declined in each successive year. Only 1.67 million people attended games in 2018, which was the fewest since 2010.

Catcher Salvador Perez led the team in home runs (27) and RBI (80), while Mike Moustakas, who was dealt to the Milwaukee Brewers before the trade deadline, finished second in both categories with 20 home runs and 62 RBI. Twenty-two-year-old shortstop Adalberto Mondesi had a breakthrough season as he recorded 14 home runs and 37 RBI across only 75 games, while 25-year-old pitcher Jakob Junis led all starting pitchers in wins (9) and achieved a 4.37 ERA to go along with 164 strikeouts in 177 innings.

Some of the Benefits of Home Health Care

Entrepreneur Scott Sjoberg began his career as an account executive for a number of Kansas- and Texas-based television stations. Scott Sjoberg now leverages his experience in sales and management as a partner at Right at Home in Overland, Kansas. Right at Home works alongside family members to provide customized home health services to loved ones who need help with everyday tasks and medical needs.

A partnership with a home health agency can relieve the burden often placed on family members when they are caring for a loved one who is aging or has been hospitalized. Together with a home health agency, family members can work together to develop a schedule of services that can delay or prevent loved ones from having to be admitted to a residential nursing facility.

Moreover, the cost savings of utilizing home health services over residential or hospital care is significant. When a patient is under the care of a home health aide, the risk of rehospitalization drops dramatically, increasing the financial advantages of home health exponentially.

In addition, since one-on-one, individualized care is provided by home health aides, the quality of care is greatly improved, and receiving that care in the comfort and security of one’s own home can facilitate healing and foster feelings of independence. Home health aides can provide a variety of services including, but not limited to, bathing and dressing, light housekeeping, grocery shopping, and transportation. With specialized training, some home health aides can also administer medications, check vital signs, and assist with medical equipment.

Church of the Resurrection's ShareChurch Ministry

A longtime Overland Park, Kansas, resident, Scott Sjoberg co-owns Bee Organized Enterprises, which provides a host of services designed to reduce clutter and increase a sense of in-home harmony and productivity. In addition to his professional responsibilities, Scott Sjoberg maintains an active presence in the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, which serves people throughout the Kansas City community and beyond.

ShareChurch, a foundational ministry of the church, engages with church leaders in inspiring them to greater acts of faith that engage with community members and help them attain their full potential. With a focus on renewing the United Methodist Church, the initiative reaches out to clergy as well as church staff and volunteers who are committed to making a difference. The partnership model at the core of this initiative involves churches across the country and has its roots in the “circuit rider system” that helped grow Methodism at its outset.

Leadership training events to be broadcast live at Leawood in the upcoming year include The Global Leadership Summit 2018, which will take place in Willow Springs, Missouri. Other anticipated events include the three-day Leadership Institute, held annually in late September.

Ensuring That Loved Ones Receive Proper Support as They Age

Scott Sjoberg has served as owner-operator of Right at Home in Overland Park, Kansas, since 2010, providing personalized in-home care services to local residents. His commitment to home care dates back to 1999, when his wife was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Scott Sjoberg understands intimately the issues that those he serves face on a daily basis.

Deciding when a loved one needs care often involves paying attention to subtle clues, including symptoms of confusion when performing tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and bathing. In addition, balance problems often arise from inner ear infections and joint problems, and may also relate to dementia. In certain cases, need for support manifests in difficulties in maintaining a properly stocked pantry and refrigerator, and ensuring that basic dietary needs are met.

A key tenet of Right at Home in-home senior care is flexibility, with services customized to specific needs. These range from simple help with daily activities around the home to dedicated assistance following surgery or a hospital stay. Experienced team members can accurately gauge the level of support needed and ensure that it is provided.
